Dear applicants to the Master’s degree program “Information systems and technology” at Tomsk State University,

Let us start with our thanks for your consideration of our Master’s program and your will to be a part of Tomsk State University.

The coronavirus has touched every aspect of our lives. Most of us are now working and studying from home, separated from friends and colleagues.

According to the official documents issued by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, Tomsk State University is working in a distance-learning mode until August 31 (with a possible extension depending on the situation).

Many of you are now concerned about plans for the first semester (September-December 2020) because your plans include buying plane tickets, moving to another country, applying to visas and so on.

While the date of the end of coronavirus pandemic is not yet fully known, we have analyzed multiple scenarios, but, in the end, we are announcing a distance-learning mode for our international students and a remote work with their scientific advisors during September and October of the first semester 2020 (with a possible extension depending on the situation).

We would like to highlight the following.

First, we will continue to prioritize the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff in every decision we make.

Second, we will do everything we can to maintain the excellence of TSU’s educational and research mission.

Third, we emphasize that the remote format does not mean sending tasks by e-mail. We promise to organize high-quality classes using all modern means of communication (webinars, online courses of the world-leading universities, and other learning formats). Our professors and lecturers will contact you constantly. So, we will ensure that all students are able to meet their academic requirements remotely.

We hope that you understand and share our decision to use distance education for the prevention of COVID-19 during September – October 2020.

We will continue to keep everyone informed and updated.

Our warmest regards,

Faculty of innovative Technologies,

Tomsk State University
